Given a 3.5 x 3.5 metre space, this temporary installation explored the idea of removing sanitary fixtures from the perimeter walls of a bathroom as is usual, and grouped them neatly together in the centre of the room, thereby avoiding excessive water and waste pipe runs and awkward junctions and box-outs.
The central ‘riser’ houses the cistern, hot & cold taps, a fibre-optic light source distributed to all fixtures, toiletry compartments, and a self-watering indoor plant! Traditional green/ blue colour schemes are deliberately avoided in favour of bright warm tones, with back-lit images providing additional illumination.
