AREA 145 sq.m. VALUE: stg.£ 130k. DURATION: 6 months
- The owners of this 1-bedroom apartment in a converted 4-storey red-brick Edwardian town-house on a leafy street in North London (Belsize Park), liked the area so much that rather than move house, they bought the larger 2-bed apartment next door. This project involved reconfiguring the 2 units to form one generous 160 sq. metre apartment taking the entire ground floor, and restoring original elements of the building concealed behind layers of successive ‘modernisation’ projects over the years.
- The original ‘birdcage’-like winter-garden room was hidden with several layers of ceilings, wall panelling and kitchen cabinets. The new combined apartment has a flexible plan layout optimising natural lighting, with generous living, dining, circulation and utility spaces. New kitchen, bathrooms, electrical and heating services were installed throughout.
